The Pyott Lab
We explore how the inner ear encodes sound and balance, investigate the mechanisms behind hearing and balance disorders, and identify the impact of sensory input from the inner ear on the brain, health and wellbeing. Our research bridges fundamental biology and clinical applications to develop innovative strategies to combat inner ear disorders.
We take an interdisciplinary approach, using advanced techniques in physiology, imaging, transcriptomics, genomics, and comparative evolutionary studies. By studying both animal models and human subjects, we gain a comprehensive understanding of auditory and vestibular pathways.
Excellent scientific training is a cornerstone of the Pyott Lab. We are dedicated to training the next generation of scientists and fostering a collaborative environment that encourages curiosity, innovation, and discovery.
